✨ Four Small Moments of Regulation
There are everyday moments when a child’s arousal level shifts —
and calming down doesn’t work through talking.
💛 In those moments, the body and nervous system need support first.
Words aren’t always available
and they don’t have to be.
🤍 A small moment, shared together, can already ease things.
🌿 Why co-regulation helps
When a child’s arousal level rises too high or drops too low,
their ability to receive input and regulate their behavior becomes limited.
That’s why, for an overloaded nervous system, the most helpful things are:
🧘♀️ calmness and reducing stimulation
🤝 an adult regulating their own arousal first
🌱 presence — close by and available, in a way that feels right for the child
⏳ slowness, acceptance, and permission
(the situation doesn’t need to be fixed quickly)
A small moment of co-regulation communicates something essential:
You’re not alone. I’m here.
🌤 Small regulation moments for everyday life
Below are a few very simple exercises you can do together with your child —
after the most intense overload has passed,
to prevent difficult moments, or to strengthen connection.
The exercises are short and simple.
They don’t need to last long to matter.
🤲 1. Touch & name
Choose an object from the Calm Kit that feels pleasant to touch.
Hold it in your hands for a moment.
Take turns describing it with simple words, such as:
“This feels soft.”
“This feels warm.”
There’s no need to explain further.
🍎 2. Body first, emotions second
Take a small snack from the pouch.
Eat slowly —
as if tasting it for the first time.
No conversation needed.
When the body receives energy,
the nervous system receives support too.
✨ Many emotions soften only after this.
🎨 3. Emotion scale – colors & textures
Place different colored pieces, cards, or fabric swatches inside the Calm Kit.
Take turns choosing one that reflects the current feeling or arousal level.
Share what the color or texture represents for you.
No right answers — just noticing.
✍️ 4. Drawing calm with a finger
Gently draw a simple shape or pattern on your child’s palm using your finger.
Ask them to guess what you’re drawing.
Then switch roles.
Slow, gentle touch helps the body settle.
🌱 Small moments are enough
Regulation doesn’t mean difficult moments disappear.
It means they don’t have to be faced alone —
or rebuilt from scratch every time.
For many families, it helps when these small moments of regulation
are familiar and easy to access.
🧺 Support that’s already there
Calm Kit and Snack Kit are designed to support exactly these everyday moments.
Snack Kit supports the body when arousal begins to shift
and gently reminds us of regular, steady energy.
Calm Kit offers a concrete, word-free way
to soothe and regulate both body and mind.
They don’t solve everything.
💛 But they can make one moment a little easier.
